INCEST HONEYMOON

In late 1971 Incest Honeymoon was formed following a chance meeting in Lepoglava Croatia between Monsieur Dreamboat (Tristan Lemieux), Cheese Pie Willie (Washington Jefferson Lincoln Willie), and Jibby Hunka. Shortly after this meeting and discovering their mutual love of avant-garde music they would relocate to the Netherlands.

In March 1972, the trio met two other musicians, Tranny Daddy (August Hoxha) and Señor Ding Dong (Oswaldo Ybarra), at a Nico concert in Amsterdam, solidifying the band's original lineup. By mid-1972, the group had moved to Hamburg, where they lived in the basement of a factory that produced industrial sealants and lubricants. Dreamboat often credited the ambient sounds of the factory as an influence on their music. They spent much of that year writing and rehearsing, and in November 1972, they played their debut gig at The Top Ten Club in Hamburg’s St. Pauli district. A few months later, in May 1973, they were discovered by jazz musician Duke Jizzerstein, who invited them to his studio in West Berlin where they would record their first album, Lesbian Diarrhea. Though the album gained little attention globally, it became an underground hit in Eastern Europe.

Over the next few years, Incest Honeymoon embarked on extensive tours and released a series of albums, including Vagina Envy, Ringo the First Is a Bisexual Tweaker, Zeppelin 4, Sexface, and Industrial Incest, which solidified their reputation in certain niche circles. By 1975, the band had relocated temporarily to New York City, where they spent most of the year in the recording studio. However, by this point, substance abuse issues were severely affecting the band's ability to perform. During their 1976 U.S. tour, they cancelled nearly as many shows as they played. The final concert, in Toledo, Ohio, ended in disaster when Cheese Pie Willie and Señor Ding Dong were arrested on multiple charges which resulted in them serving prison sentences. Both were released in 1978 and rejoined the band in Stuttgart, Germany.

In 1978, the band resumed its aggressive recording and touring schedule despite the significant personal and professional challenges they would face, including drug-related arrests, internal strife within the band, and Cheese Pie Willie's prolonged hospitalization in Portugal.

By 1983, the band's stability began to deteriorate as members became increasingly erratic. A revolving door of temporary musicians, including Zlatan Boyanov from the Hungarian band Rape Meat, were brought in to keep the band going. Despite these efforts, Incest Honeymoon’s downward spiral culminated in a tragic incident during an April 1986 concert in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, when Jibby Hunka unexpectedly opened fire with a pistol on the audience and was eventually shot and killed by police. No clear motive for his actions was ever revealed, and the band has remained largely silent on the matter.

Incest Honeymoon managed to persist in various configurations for years after that event, even splitting into two separate bands at one point, both claiming the name "Incest Honeymoon" and embroiling themselves in legal battles. The surviving original members reunited last in 2014 for a concert commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
